librdkafka-dev software package provides library implementing the Apache Kafka protocol (development headers), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install librdkafka-dev
librdkafka-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the librdkafka-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep librdkafka-dev *
You will get with librdkafka-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
